Williamson receives Order of the Long Leaf Pine

OCEAN ISLE BEACH — Ocean Isle Beach officials kept a secret from commissioner Betty Williamson for the past two months to surprise her Feb. 14 with the Order of the Long Leaf Pine.

North Carolina’s governors have awarded the Order of the Long Leaf Pine since 1963 as one of the state’s highest honors to people who made significant contributions to the state and their communities through their public service.
