15-year-old boy struck by lightning in Belville

A 15-year-old boy in Belville was struck by lightning Tuesday afternoon.

The boy, who was playing Xbox at the time, suffered burns after being struck in his home on the 200 block of East Wood Lane, said Anthony Marzano, Brunswick County emergency services director. Emergency personnel responded after someone in the residence called about 4:45 p.m. and complained of an “electrical burning smell.” The extent of the boy’s injuries is not yet available.
