SUNSET BEACH—A 16-year-old was charged Monday with the theft of a golf cart.

Shay Gales, of 7267 Lula St., Ocean Isle Beach, was charged in connection with the theft of a golf cart from Live Oak Drive.

Sunset Beach Deputy Chief Steve Smith said more charges and arrests are expected.

He said the arrest is connected to the theft of items reported stolen Sept. 20 from a house being remodeled on Pecan Avenue.

Items reported stolen included three .22 rifles, a 410 shotgun and a 12-gauge shotgun along with miscellaneous tools, a generator, air compressors and air guns.

Break-ins and thefts also were reported Sept. 21 at residences on Live Oak Drive. A backpack blower, trolling motor, battery chargers and chain saws were reported stolen from a storage building.

Items were recovered from an outbuilding on Lula Street off Seaside Road.

Smith said a pressure washer valued at $10,000 is still missing.

The golf cart reported stolen Sept. 20 was used to transport the items, Smith said.

Police also investigated a break-in reported Monday on West Main Street.
