Space issues have limited the number of tickets the school district can allot to graduating seniors in the past, but this year 200 additional seats have been made available for Saturday, June 14, commencement ceremonies.

Brunswick County conducts commencement exercises at Odell Williamson Auditorium on the campus of Brunswick Community College, the largest indoor facility in Brunswick County. This year, thanks to live streaming technology within the auditorium, 200 more seats will be available in the Odell Williamson Auditorium Events Center, which is next to the main auditorium.

Tickets for additional seats in the center will be specially printed and distributed at each high school. School staff will be on hand to ensure ticket holders for the center seating enter through the side door of the auditorium. Because of traffic congestion and limited parking, the district encourages people to carpool, schools spokeswoman Jessica Swencki said.

The addition of the center seating is in response to feedback the system received from parents who wished more of their family members could attend the ceremony. District leaders will examine the impact and logistics of the center’s live stream and additional seating to determine if there is any possibility of future expansion to other buildings on the college campus.

Brunswick County Schools will have a live stream of each ceremony through the district’s website, www.bcswan.net. The link for the live stream will be listed Saturday, June 14, under “Hot Topics” on the homepage. The success of live streams on personal computers is based on Internet connectivity.

The start times for graduation are West Brunswick, 9 a.m.; North Brunswick, 12:30 p.m.; South Brunswick, 4 p.m.
