Art coupled with wine-and-chocolate pairings will celebrate the season with the launching Feb. 16 of the Sweetheart Girls’ Art Show at Silver Coast Winery.

The Valentine’s-flavored show debuts 2-5 p.m. in the winery gallery and showcases the work of five area artists—Maria del Carmen, Sandra Dee Nicholson, Anne Rhodes, Cherylyn Berrio and Gabriella Lynch.

Wine-and-chocolate pairings are at noon, 1:30 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Carmen is an award-winning photographer specializing in landscapes and nature.

Nicholson is a self-proclaimed artist, hippie and gypsy with prior work in Los Angeles. Her work was featured on “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” HGTV’s “Designing for the Sexes” and “The Doctors.”

Rhodes’ artistic style is described as traditional realism. She also enjoys delving into other styles as well as varied techniques and mediums, including oil, acrylic, pastel, colored pencil and watercolor.

Berrio, of Wilmington, specializes in sea life—especially sea turtles—and the seashore.

She paints in oil, acrylic and colored pencil as well as on canvas, wood, furniture and seashells.

Lynch is a self-taught artist born in Budapest, Hungary, with subsequent artistic influence in Germany and commercial work in the United States.

In 1995 Lynch launched her own business, ABC Signs, in Ocean Isle Beach.

In addition to supplying area beach houses with unique sandblasted signs and other designs, Lynch sells prints and originals of her watercolor paintings.

Silver Coast Winery is at 6680 Barbeque Road in the Grissettown area. To get there, take U.S. 17 to N.C. 904 west (away from beaches). Take second right to Russtown Road, then fourth right to Barbeque Road. The winery is at the end of the road.

Winter-hours tours and tastings in February are Mondays and Tuesdays by appointment, noon-5 p.m. Wednesdays and Sundays and noon-6 p.m. Fridays.
