Surrounded by pictures of alcohol-related fatalities he responded to as a police officer in Havelock, Ken Rhodes performed routine maintenance on the instruments in the BAT Mobile.
Outside the BAT Mobile, or Blood Alcohol Testing mobile unit, officers set up their checkpoint at the state line as part of the “Hands Across the Border.”
Last Friday night, officers from various agencies in Brunswick and New Hanover counties converged on the state line to combat drunk driving.
