BCC beats Albemarle 6-2

 The Brunswick Community College baseball team won two of three games over the weekend against College of the Albemarle.


BCC split two seven-inning games Saturday, winning 9-2 and losing 4-3. Starter Brock Holmes left the game with a 1-0 lead in the sixth inning. Albemarle scored four runs and held off a BCC rally in the seventh.

BCC beat Albemarle 6-2 in a nine-inning game Sunday. BCC scored all six runs in the fourth inning.

In the game Sunday, winning pitcher Tommy Wright gave up five hits and two unearned runs in five-plus innings. He walked three, hit one batter and struck out no one.

Reliever Talton Cherry pitched four scoreless innings, giving up one hit. He walked two and struck out three.

Drew Alford was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Ryan Collins finished with a double and a sacrifice fly. Jay Cannon was 2-for-4. Robert Long was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Daniel Oliver and Joshua Powell had RBI singles. Colton Wright had a single.
