BCC men beat Wake Tech

 The Brunswick Community College men’s basketball team beat Wake Technical Community College 67-62 Sunday at the Dinah E. Gore Fitness & Aquatics Center gym.


Quinton Morrow and Khari Faison each scored 16 points for BCC (10-6), which avenged an 81-73 loss Nov. 10 at Wake. Cam Jones scored 10 points and Montez Loman nine.

The Dolphins led 60-57 with 5:40 left when Morrow hit a 3-pointer. Two free throws by Faison with 2:50 left gave BCC a 65-60 lead.

Wake scored with 1:41 left, but it went scoreless on its next two possessions, the first one ending on a shot clock violation. Free throws with 9.1 seconds left by Loman clinched the victory.

BCC began its scoring with four straight dunks—one by Jones, two by Faison and one by Loman—in taking an 8-0 lead.

Wake rallied, tying the score 14-14 and then taking a 19-14 lead with 10:53 left in the first half.

A dunk by Faison gave BCC a 33-31 lead late in the half, which ended with Wake ahead 36-33.
