BCC to offer continuing education classes

The Continuing Education and Workforce Development Department at Brunswick Community College offers short-term programs and classes for self-improvement, cultural enrichment, and academic achievement geared towards adults seeking intellectual stimulation, community involvement and social interaction, according to Karen Ladley, the school’s public information officer.

Many business courses are free due to funding from a Small Business Center grant. Seniors, 65 and over, can also take many classes free of charge. For a full schedule of classes, including online courses, visit www.brunswickcc.edu.

The following are upcoming Continuing Education courses and seminars:

Small Business and Workforce Development

How to Start a Small Business: In this three-hour seminar, you will learn step by step procedures to establish a small business. Creating a business name, choosing your legal structure, opening a business bank account, etc. Supply, 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, free.

QuickBooks Pro for Small Business, Payroll: We know that converting your payroll to QuickBooks needs to be at least one three-hour session. This is a hands-on program that will have you up and running with the premiere small business payroll system. Supply, 6-9 p.m. Monday, June 16, free.

Occupational Training

Professional Flower Gardening: This course will include both lectures and hands-on experience to reinforce material taught in class. Students will learn appropriate soil mixes, build flower beds, planting and propagation for flower gardening. Learn the best tools to use and cultural practices for this area. Supply, 6-8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 19-Sept. 28, pre-registration required, $60+.

Notary Public Education: Supply, 6-9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, June 10-11, $50 + textbook.

Real Estate

Real Estate Provisional Brokers: Supply, 9 a.m.-noon or 6-9 p.m. Mondays, June 23–Aug. 28, $60 +.

Children’s YES Camps will begin soon. Camps include: girl’s lacrosse, writer’s camp, sign language, Spanish, poetry, cheerleading, theatre, science and nature.
