On Saturday in Dobson, the Brunswick Community College baseball team beat Surry Community College 5-1 in nine innings and lost 6-5 in seven innings.
In the first game, Bryson Benton was 3-for-5 with two RBIs. He hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning in giving BCC a 3-0 lead. Tyler Ruffin was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Jonathan Corbett was 2-for-5 with one RBI. He and Ruffin drove in runs in the seventh inning as BCC took a 5-1 lead.
Winning pitcher Michael Green gave up six hits and one run in 8.2 innings. He walked two and struck out seven.
