Each semester, the Department of Cosmetology at Brunswick Community College hosts a hair design contest where currently enrolled students compete.
The theme for the spring 2012 semester was bridal, where students were to design their style of choice. Students were given one hour on the day of the competition to completely make over a mannequin, which was then judged by a panel composed of local stylists and estheticians.
Winning first place was Olivia Chapman; second place was Misty Vining; and third place went to Simone Taylor.
Honorable mentions were awarded to Melody Melanson and Taryn Craine. The next competition is scheduled for the fall 2012 semester.
