Brunswick Community College was eliminated in the play-in game of the Carolinas Junior College Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament last week in Wilmington.
Denmark (S.C.) Technical College defeated the Lady Dolphins 62-57 Thursday at Ashley High School. BCC ended the season on a 12-game losing streak and finished 2-20 overall.
Jasmine Monroe scored 18 points, Robin Smith had 12, Temere Williams had 11, Chrissy Campbell had 10 and Tiara Brodie had nine for the Lady Dolphins.
Tiffany Sumpter and Nealy Nesmith scored 20 points apiece and Chenise Lazenby had 15 for Denmark.
“They played very, very hard this year, especially in that last game. They left everything on the floor. I couldn’t ask for a better effort,” said BCC coach Kenneth White.
“They played very hard and really left their hearts on the floor. They played 40 minutes of great basketball.
“I appreciate what they did to make it through the season, and the coaching staff is working hard to bring in 15 to 18 players for next year.”
