SUPPLY—The November election is important for choosing national leaders and also local government officials. Meet the Candidate Night is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, at Odell Williamson Auditorium, where Brunswick County residents can get to know their local candidates.
Sponsored by the Alliance of Brunswick County Property Owners Association together with The Brunswick Beacon and other media sponsors, the candidate forum will host all candidates running for county commissioner and board of education seats, N.C. House and Senate candidates, and one candidate running for U.S. Congress.
Candidates who have confirmed participation:
•County Commissioner District 2: Incumbent Marty Cooke-R and Marion Davis-D.
•County Commissioner District 3: Incumbent May Moore-D and Charles Warren-R.
•County Commissioner District 4: Incumbent Tom Rabon-D and Scott Phillips-R
•County Commissioner District 5: Incumbent Bill Sue-R and Randy Rhodes-D.
•Board of Education District 1: Incumbent Ray Gilbert-L, Bud Thorsen-R, and John Jones-D.
•Board of Education District 2: Christy Judah-D and Catherine Cooke-R.
•Board of Education District 4: Incumbent Shirley Babson-R and Tom Simmons-D.
•N.C. State Senate District 8: Incumbent R.C. Soles-D, Bettie Fennell-D, and Rachel Joiner-L.
•N.C. State House of Representatives District 17: Incumbent Bonner Stiller-R and Vernon Ward-D.
•N.C. State House of Representatives District 20: Incumbent Dewey Hill-D.
•U.S. Congress District 17: Will Breazeale-R.
Candidates will participate in a question and answer session as well as a discussion between each incumbent and challenger. Questions were pre-selected.
