Blues and crabs in Little River this weekend

LITTLE RIVER, S.C. — Get ready for crabs, crafters and crooners.

The 33rd Annual Blue Crab Festival is set for this weekend just south of the border in Little River, S.C.

Scheduled 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, May 17 and 18, the award-winning festival traditionally showcases all-day entertainment and an array of food, about 200 arts-and-crafts vendors, business booths and community groups lining the Little River waterfront the weekend after Mother’s Day.

Other events at the “biker-friendly festival” include a children’s area and activities.

Saturday’s lineup of onstage performers includes Fahrenheit from 9:30 a.m. to noon, Sea Cruz from noon to 3 p.m., and Gary Lowder & Smokin’ Hot from 3 to 6 p.m.

Sunday’s schedule includes Craig Woolard and The Embers from noon to 3 p.m. and Jim Quick & Coastline from 3 to 6 p.m.

Tickets are $3 for advance one-day admission, $5 for advance two-day admission and $5 general gate admission.

Free printable child and student passes for ages 12 and younger are also available online at www.bluecrabfestival.org.

Shuttle buses will provide transportation to and from the festival site from available parking at Lowes Foods, River Hills Medical Plaza, Collision Masters and Willard’s Fireworks in Little River.

Buses will be circulating among the stops from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
