The North Carolina Department of Transportation will begin a bridge maintenance project Friday, June 6, on the U.S. 74/76 bridge over Village Road and CSX railroad in Leland, weather permitting.

Crews will have one of two westbound lanes closed every weekend of the month from 6:30 a.m. Fridays to 3 p.m. Mondays as they perform work on the bridge deck overlay.

NCDOT began concrete repair work May 5 on the N.C. 133 bridge over the Intracoastal Waterway in Southport. During work, crews will have nightly alternating lane closures on the bridge, which is north of East Oak Island Drive. Construction is scheduled from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays. Work is expected to be completed by Friday, June 13.

Back near Leland, there are lane closures in both directions on N.C. 133 from Daw’s Creek to Old River Road for widening, milling and paving. Work began last month and is expected to end June 15.

Motorists are reminded to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit. Updated travel information is available by calling 511 or online at www.ncdot.gov/travel or on Twitter.
