Brunswick Catch is working to establish a statewide organization.

Last week, Brunswick Catch hosted the fall meeting of North Carolina Catch, a newly organized eastern N.C. group, at Holden Beach Town Hall.

Brunswick Catch works to educate consumers about the advantages of local seafood and to assure sources for local catch. Brunswick Catch is joining with its sister organizations, Carteret Catch, Outer Banks Catch, and Ocracoke Fresh to form an umbrella group, North Carolina Catch.

The current agenda for North Carolina Catch is designing a logo, which will relate to local N.C. seafood, and creating a website. In addition, the board is working on acquiring nonprofit status and sources of funding.

Goals for North Carolina Catch are to educate consumers about the quality, freshness and seasonality of local seafood and to help assure sources of local seafood by supporting local fishermen, seafood dealers and restaurants that sell local seafood, Brunswick Catch member May Moore said.
