Brunswick County Public Utilities did not encounter any opposition for a water transfer permit at a public hearing in Leland on Monday, Sept. 9.
Brunswick County is seeking approval from the Environmental Management Commission (EMC), which regulates transfers of large amounts of water between North Carolina river basins.
Utilities director Jerry Pierce said the county has a grandfathered transfer capacity of 10.5 million gallons of water a day, but is reaching its limit.
