Brunswick County ROCAME jamboree winners announced

ROCAME had its annual Brunswick County jamboree on March 29 at South Brunswick High School, the second consecutive year South Brunswick served as host.

Four middle schools and three high schools (more than 150 students, teachers and parents) participated in the math and science events.

The winners of middle school events were:

Write It Do It: first place, Hailey Winstead and Maranda Hansley (SB Middle School); second place, Cynthia Bolanos and Ebony Daniels (Waccamaw Elementary School); third place, Kdijah Hewett and Angelica Baltazar (Shallotte Middle School)

Metric Mastery: first place (tie), Joshua Rascoe and Daja White (Leland Middle) and Shukira Nichols and Curtis Brown (SBMS); third place, Sharante Gore and Sydney Evans (SMS)

The high school championship trophy was won by North Brunswick High School. Teams from West Brunswick and South Brunswick High School were second and third, respectively.

Special recognition was given to students who built robots at their respective schools.

They were Estefania Gutierrez and Tikenya McNeil (LMS); Janisha Gore and Khalil Gore (WES); Reginald Vereen, Taraus Deas and Hailey Winstead (SBMS); Tori Colvin, Tyrell Gibbs and Cartelina Garcia (NBHS); and CeCe Daly and Alexis Johnson (WBHS).
