The Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team is a support unit, whose primary functions are traffic enforcement and assisting in the apprehension of drug traffickers in the county. The ACE team conducts driving while impaired, driver’s license and criminal information checkpoints, as well as street-level investigations on controlled substances. The ACE team works with the sheriff’s office K-9 Enforcement Team and Drug Enforcement Unit to apprehend narcotics suspects as well as saturating hot spots where criminal activity is reported.
The ACE Team works on speed reduction and DWI enforcement within Brunswick County and surrounding counties in cooperation with multi-agency traffic safety grant funded programs.
Between Jan. 12-18, deputies issued 36 citations and charges, seven of which were arrests.
Deputies charged three drivers with driving while impaired, including: Gennette Molina, 28, Lee Ervin Mohr, 45, and Jeffrey A. Richards, 40.
Other citations issued by ACE deputies includes: two driving while license revoked, 10 no operator’s license citations, two inspection violations, three insurance violations, two seat belt violations, seven registration violations, one equipment violation, three careless and reckless driving charges and one underage possession of alcohol citation.
