Brunswick County Sheriff's Office Special Operations Team roundup

The special operations team at the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office includes the K-9 enforcement team and Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team.

The ACE Team is a support unit whose primary functions are traffic enforcement and assisting in the apprehension of drug traffickers in the county.

From June 25-July 1, special operations deputies issued 86 total traffic citations and charges.

Deputies set up checkpoints on N.C. 133, Pireway Road, Old Shallotte Road, Mount Misery Road and Longwood Road.

The following suspects were charged:

•Donald Pait, 49, of 1299 Decator St., Supply, was charged with driving while impaired (DWI).

•Leonard Philbeck, 25, of 704 Betty St., Gastonia, was charged with DWI and failure to comply with license restrictions.

•Ernest Helms, 65, of 5720 Brickstone Drive, Charlotte, was charged with DWI.

•Laudis Cooker, 49, of 4377 Marty St., Shallotte, was charged with DWI.

•Kevin Stanley, 30, of 9471 Ocean Highway, Calabash, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and felony flee to elude arrest with a motor vehicle.

•Leland Leith, 55, of 1240 Six-Mile Road Lot 9, Mount Pleasant, S.C., was charged with DWI and open container.

•Jack Evans, 43, of 3068 Shell Point Road in Supply, was charged with DWI.

•Matthew Caudill, 50, of 610 Jennings Drive, Wilmington, was charged with DWI, driving while license revoked, no insurance and failure to register.
