Chester County, Tenn., beat Brunswick County 16-12 in a loser-out game Monday morning of the Junior Dixie Boys World Series in Christiansburg, Va.
Four times Brunswick fell behind by six runs in the loss.
Tennessee scored six runs in the top of the first inning and led 8-2 entering the bottom of the fourth, but Brunswick scored three runs to cut the lead to 8-5.
Tennessee scored four runs in the fifth in taking a 12-5 lead.
In bottom of the fifth, Brunswick scored five runs with two outs. Jaheed Cason hit a two-out triple and scored on a balk. Hunter Ashburn walked, stole second and scored on a home run by Zachary Johnson, cutting the lead to 12-8.
Facing a new pitcher, Caleb Clemmons singled and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Tyler McDuffie walked. Johnathan Carlyle then doubled off the outfield wall and two runs scored, cutting the lead to 12-10.
In the sixth, Tennessee scored a run off three errors. A two-run, two-out single with the bases loaded put Tennessee ahead 15-10. Tennessee scored one more run in taking a 16-10 lead.
In the sixth, Cason hit a home run with two outs. In the seventh, Tariq Thomas hit a sacrifice fly.
Brunswick, with a different group of players, was runner-up in the 2011 World Series.
