To the editor: In reference to William Stanley's letter "Who started this war on terror?"
I was wondering how long it was going to be before you wrote in again, uninformed and only stating your personal opinion without facts and continue to insult others.
Let me again do a little correction for you. Our country is not at the behest of Israel, and we do not bow to AIPAC, we support it, just as we support Israel’s right to be an independent state, just as we support other countries. You are obviously anti-Semitic, as I have read your rhetoric before.
You go on to insult another veteran for comparing the war in which you fought to be “real war,” unlike any other. War is war, regardless of how much bombardment, shelling, gunfire, etc, takes place. Shame on you for putting yourself on a pedestal.
You state Bush approved the use of torture on terrorists. It’s always amazing to me how quick it is for individuals to put at the foot of the president every blame of every situation.
I, for one, have no problem in torturing any terrorist who wishes to kill my friends and family and fellow countrymen.
I wish our country was more like China in how they utilize captured terrorists, they torture inhumanely, gather all the information they think they have, take them “out back,” so to speak, and shoot them.
While that may seem cruel and inhumane, you cannot change the mindset of someone who has been raised to want to kill you and your family.
It would really pay for you to take a visit to England or any other European country to see what the radical Muslims are like. It would be an eye-opening experience for you and many others like you.
This is a different time in which we live, and the terrorists have no rules. For them, their only desire is to kill as many of us as possible; after all, we are the “infidels.”
You mention that under the Bush administration that the dollar is almost worthless. Let’s discuss that.
The dollar is not even close to being worthless. If it were, the world economy would be in shambles, period. Gas prices are dictated by supply and demand, period.
If you want to talk presidents, let’s discuss these facts. Who almost got the U.S. into a nuclear war at the Bay of Pigs? A Democratic president.
Who, back during the late ’70s, botched an attempt to rescue our hostages from Iran? A Democratic president, whom also I might add, led our country into a recession with double-digit inflation.
At 16 years old in 1979, I remember paying $1 a gallon for gas. There’s nothing more wrong with Bush than with any other president and yet you want him impeached? We’ll not even go in that direction.
You ended your letter stating that Davey Lee should get off Cloud 9. Well, Mr. Stanley, that sounds like just the medicine the doctor ordered for you.
Take off your rose-colored glasses Mr. Stanley, as it’s the people like you who are uninformed is what is taking this nation to lower depths.
