CALABASH — The Calabash Board of Commissioners has approved establishing a town economic development committee.
The board unanimously approved the measure at its monthly meeting Aug. 12.
The idea originated with Michael Herring, a member of the Calabash Planning and Zoning Board. Town commissioners subsequently directed town administrator Chuck Nance and town clerk Kelley Southward to meet with Herring in July.
Herring researched local economic development committees and proposed a couple of purpose or mission statements.
