CALABASH—After much debate Tuesday, commissioners approved rezoning property off Persimmon Road from agriculture to residential.
The 11.55-acre parcel was recommended for rezoning by the town planning and zoning board to residential (R-6), which requires a minimum 6,000-square-foot lot. Mayor Anthony Clemmons said the issue has to do with “family transfer of land.”
Town building inspector Stanley Dills said pending subdivision changes could perhaps make R-6 detrimental based on the 25 percent impervious surface calculation.
