A Calabash man has been arrested and now faces 26 breaking and entering, larceny and burglary charges.
Donald Edward Varner, 53, of 87 Calabash Drive, is in custody at Brunswick County Detention Center on $450,000 bond, facing the following charges: five counts of first-degree burglary, seven counts of breaking and entering, two counts of attempted breaking and entering, nine counts of felony larceny, two counts of auto larceny and one count of attempted larceny.
Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office detectives have been investigating breaking and entering and larcenies in the Calabash business district and Carolina Shores residential district since July 2007. Detectives arrested Varner Monday.
According to a sheriff’s office press release, the investigation is ongoing and more charges are expected.
