A California man drowned off the coast of Holden Beach last Friday, June 25.
According to Holden Beach Police Chief Wally Layne, Raymond Joseph Dracker, 55, of San Rafael, Calif., drowned Friday morning when his kayak was overtaken by waves in the Lockwood Folly Inlet off the east end of Holden Beach.
“His family member lost contact with him and subsequently located an empty kayak,” Layne said.
Layne said Dracker’s family then called 911.
