Mount Olive won the Conference Carolinas championship softball tournament April 22, Mount Olive’s first championship since 2000. The championship qualified the Trojans (34-13) for the NCAA Division II softball tournament for the first time in school history.

Mount Olive won four consecutive elimination games en route to title. It won the third game after being down to its final strike of the season for 10 consecutive pitches.

Pitcher Carly White, a West Brunswick graduate, was among four Mount Olive players on the all-tournament team. She was 1-0 with a save.

Mount Olive, ranked No. 8 in the NCAA II Southeast Region, joins Peach Belt Conference champion Columbus State and South Atlantic Conference champion Lenoir-Rhyne in the eight-team field in the Southeast Regional.

On April 23, White received the Most Outstanding Female Student-Athlete award during the Mount Olive College athletics awards ceremony at Kornegay Arena.

White  became the first Mont Olive student-athlete (excluding running sports) in more than a decade to earn all-conference honors in two sports in the same year.

White was named to the All-Conference Carolinas volleyball third team in the fall, her second straight year on the all-conference team. (She was on the first team in 2011).

She was named to the All-Conference Carolinas softball second team last week. White, a pitcher, is 13-4 this season.
