CAROLINA SHORES—Following lengthy, at times heated, debate, a majority of Carolina Shores commissioners on Tuesday approved contributing $27,000 to the Calabash Fire Department for the next fiscal year.
The board rejected an amendment by commissioner Joseph Przywara, who voted against the contribution, to delete the $27,000 earmarked for the fire department in the 2008-2009 budget.
Przywara said he felt the contribution imposed an extra fire fee, since the fire fee committee last week approved maximum county fire fees for the department.
