Chamber honors good neighbors with breakfast

The South Brunswick Middle School and Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce had its Spring Good Neighbor Breakfast to recognize 30 outstanding students chosen by the teachers for demonstrating a positive work ethic and exemplifying a good “neighbor” in their school. 

Keynote speaker for the event was Col. Joseph E. Calisto, commander of the 596th Transportation Brigade, Military Ocean Terminal at Sunny Point. He gave each student a reminder card with words of wisdom to live by: 1) Hard work always pays off. 2) Attitude is everything. 3) Always believe in yourself. 4) Like what you see in the mirror. 5) Never quit.

Spring Good Neighbor recipients included Jonathan Castellanos Mar, Lucy Chen, Brandon Cook, Morgan Creech, Alexa Fabb, Austin Fleming, John Frandano, Kaeleigh Freeman, Mackenzie Gregory, Natasha Hiltz, Allison Johnson, Allyson Kinney, Kyerra Kinsey, Alexis Knox, Chasity Layne, Dakota Lewis, Hayley Likens, Taylor McEnaney, Cassie Millinor, Andrew Parker, Caroline Ratliff, Quinton Reid, Brandon Rich, Imani Sidbury, Landon Smith, Jacob Spencer, Megan Teal, Haylee Thorndike, Nicole Wehbe and William Willyard.

The Good Neighbor breakfast is an event of South Brunswick Middle School and the education committee of the Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce with assistance from Dosher Memorial Hospital and Hardee’s of Southport.
