SUNSET BEACH—A warrant has been issued by Sunset Beach Police for a South Carolina man wanted in connection with break-ins and thefts reported this summer.
David S. Anderson, 18, of Surfside Beach, S.C., will be charged in connection with five car break-ins and a house break-in that occurred in Sunset Beach earlier this summer, Sunset Beach Deputy Police Chief Steve Smith said Tuesday.
In the incidents, car windows were broken and purses were stolen. The house break-in consisted of a medication and purse theft, Smith said.
Anderson currently is at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center in Conway, S.C., on similar charges.
“We’ll be pressing charges also,” Smith said.
In separate incidents, the department is investigating two more reports of mail larceny reported in Sea Trail. Smith said the perpetrators stole a checkbook in Surfside Beach and have been writing bad checks using names of mail-theft victims in Sea Trail.
Police are looking for two suspects, 46-year-old Joan Baggett Hamilton of Surfside Beach and 49-year-old Jeff Lewis Floyd of Myrtle Beach.
Sunset Beach police also investigated a recent Coke machine break-in on the island.
