Shallotte Presbyterian Church members Richard Dixon, Virginia Dixon and the Rev. John Causey were recognized by the American Red Cross for their contributions to the organization.
The Dixons have sponsored successful blood drives for more than four years at Shallotte Presbyterian Church.
“Mr. and Mrs. Dixon have worked exceptionally hard to ensure that the blood drives at Shallotte Presbyterian Church are successful,” said Tanya Tilley-Hall of donor services of the American Red Cross. “Our Shallotte blood donors know them by name and I am extremely grateful for their service and friendship.”
Causey was also honored for donating his 30th gallon of blood.
“Pastor John Causey initiated the blood drives at Shallotte Presbyterian Church because he is a lifelong blood donor and supporter of the American Red Cross,” said Tilley-Hall. “Pastor Causey and his church members have been extremely generous to the American Red Cross.”
The next Shallotte Presbyterian Church blood drive will be from 1:30- 6 p.m. Monday, June 28. The American Red Cross urges eligible blood donors to call 754-6929 and make an appointment to donate blood.
The American Red Cross hosts numerous blood drives throughout the year so area residents can support friends, family and neighbors who need blood.
Each day, patients in this region use more than 1,600 units of blood and blood products. Individuals who donate blood with the Red Cross are ensuring these patients will have the life-saving blood they need.
