Munna named Citizen of Year
The Shallotte Elks will honor its Citizen of the Year, Jerome Munna from The Sign Shoppe, on Sunday, Feb. 24, at the Elks Lodge, 791 Bricklanding Road (N.C. 179). A roast chicken dinner will be served starting at 2 p.m. Ceremonies will follow the dinner.
Munna is being honored for his continuing effort in organizing the annual motorcycle/classic cars Holiday Toy Run. The Elk of the Year and the Officer of the Year will also be honored that day.
Tickets are $6 each at the Lodge or call 755-5898. Cut-off date is Feb. 21. This event is open to the public.

Shaggers to have dance on Feb. 22
The Society of Brunswick Shaggers will have a dance from 6:30-10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at the Moose Lodge on Long Beach Road on Oak Island. Deejay for the event is Terry McPhail. Dancers are asked to bring a nonperishable food item for the food pantry. Admission is $3 for SOBS and other shag club members and $6 for guests.
Lions set for pancake breakfast on Feb. 23
The Shallotte Lions annual pancake breakfast will be from 7-10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at Hwy. 55 (formerly Andy’s) on Main Street in Shallotte. Cost is $5 for pancakes, bacon and a beverage. Tickets will be available at the door. All proceeds to assist the seeing and hearing impaired in Brunswick County.
