To the editor:
Finding time to add one more thing to our busy lives these days seems to be a hard task to do; however, the benefits of volunteering provide great rewards to you and your community. Volunteering is good for your mind and body. It connects you with others, which helps create new friendships and contacts.
Volunteering increases self-confidence, helps you stay mentally and physically healthy, and may lead to a job or new career.
Here at the Communities in Schools Thrift Shop in Boiling Spring Lakes, we have been blessed with outstanding volunteers. We have four volunteers who have been here since we opened in September 2010. Mary Lewis, Marilyn Mills, Anne Boyle and Sherrill Lubinsky donate their valuable time every week. We are grateful for our volunteers who spend their time and talents with us to ensure we successfully raise money for Brunswick County schools.
Our mission statement is: To surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. Our goal is to have a nice, clean, organized store with current styles and updated fashions. It would not be possible to reach this goal without our volunteer team.
If you would like to make a difference in your community, come by and join all the fun at CIS Thrift Shop in Boiling Spring Lakes. You may do as little as one hour a day, to a couple days a week. We can use all the help you have to give. Call us at 845-3555.
