The hotly contested debate surrounding “The Color Purple” and its inclusion in the Advanced Placement curriculum in Brunswick County Schools seems to have ended Jan. 21 when school board members rejected a motion to limit access to the controversial book.
The board also initiated a conversation to set up a permanent advisory committee to handle future challenges.
The vote took place during a policy committee meeting regarding policy review of challenges to instructional materials.
