Ash native set to publish book

Felicia Derrica Marlow has just been retained by DP Talent & Publishing to coordinate the publishing of her first book, “Living Alone In a House Full of People.”

The Ash native was inspired to write the book because of a life-threatening auto accident and an emotional, traumatic experience at 12 years-of-age.

Marlow’s book is described as a collection of poems that unveil her inner feelings and secrets she has kept hidden for 18 years. The compilation of writings reveals her triumph and courage over much despair and torment since 1992.

At age 14 as a student at Waccamaw Elementary School, she published her first poem,  “Question.” However, her desire to express herself poetically came about before the age of 10. Purpose driven, she says that her mission for writing is to uplift and challenge the brokenhearted, silent voices and persons who have been abused emotionally and physically.

Like many poets, Marlow started writing poetry as a way to vent, escape and bury various moments in her life. Her true-life poems have been therapeutic to the emotions and mind of her soul. She is quick to say that God is the inspiration and “light” behind her gift for writing.
