GREENSBORO—South Brunswick’s Gary Williams played for the East All-Stars in their 34-9 victory over the West July 18 at Jamieson Stadium.
Williams, 5-foot-9, 160 pounds, was a starting cornerback. He made one tackle and assisted on two others. West was a passing team, but Williams and the rest of the East defense held West to 24 completions on 46 attempts.
At South, Williams was all-conference as a senior and a junior.
He also played baseball, where he was the Senior Award recipient, and basketball, where he was named team co-MVP. He is in the National Honor Society and is South’s Senior Male Athlete of the Year. He signed an athletic grant-in-aid with Catawba College, where he will major in accounting.
“I feel like it is great opportunity to meet other athletes and also that it will be a good experience,” he said about playing in the game. “I’m looking forward to gaining more knowledge of the game and, hopefully, learn things from other players.”
