Brunswick County’s SWAT team was recently called to Holden Beach.
They were there to help assist removal of a renter who had warrants out against him, Holden Beach police chief Wally Layne told town commissioners at their Jan. 8 meeting.
“A gentleman who was renting (a house on Ocean Boulevard) has a heroin problem and was stealing on and off the beach,” Layne said. “There were four break-ins on the island—three on Ocean Boulevard and one on Brunswick Avenue. He was stealing flat-screen TVs.”
