County 4-H’ers take project to Southport Elementary

-A A +A

Brunswick County 4-H members Bobbi Jane Lawrence and Owen Bell attended Southport Elementary School’s Nov. 15 PTA meeting and helped facilitate a science-learning experience for other students in attendance.
By using this year’s National Youth Science Day experiment kit, the Eco Bot Challenge, they engaged in a hands-on activity that allowed students to engineer their own robots and control surfaces.
Their robots then had to travel through the parameters. Each group was challenged with finding the best environmental clean-up solution for a simulated toxic spill.
Students attending were split into three groups by age and after testing their own robots, they raced them against the other groups. Participants attending ranged in ages from 6-10 years old.
