Special to The Beacon
With Tropical Storm Andrea leaving, a storm of Vintage racers entered the Carolina Speedway June 8 for the third race of the 2013 Bell & Bell Vintage Modified Series season.
As a result of the series’ rules, fastest qualifier Cameron Norris III, of Sandy Creek, had to start the event 11th.
Jeremy Cumbee, of Supply, driving his new No. 36 ’39 Chevy coupe, started from the pole and led the first seven laps ahead of Dean Cumbee and Bobby Williamson until the field was slowed by caution.
