To the editor: Ms. Curran’s article was “right on”; Ms. Sloan’s article that rationalizes theft was deplorable!

We have all been bruised by life. On the way up, everyone is your friend; on the way down, it is a feeding frenzy.

Mr. Hewett will find out who are his true friends. I truly feel for him, but I don’t excuse him. He will be a better person after this matter passes on.

Like our local governments, there are no checks and balances in our system; no place for one to go to file a grievance without fear of retaliation.
