The county and state burn bans that have been in effect since June 22 have been lifted.

Officials with the N.C. Forest Service and Brunswick County Fire Marshal Scott Garner announced the burn bans were lifted at 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8.

“While recent rainfall has reduced fire danger, the state is still facing drought conditions,” N.C. Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler said.

“If the drought continues and there is an increase in the number of wildfires, the ban on open burning could be reinstated.”
