Dance 4 Life going to Disney

-A A +A

Oak Island’s Dance 4 Life Inc. performed recently at the Oak Island Christmas tree lighting for the third year in a row. That was followed by a fun day in the Oak Island Christmas parade and the  annual studio Christmas party. While finishing up, owner Darcy Deal received a phone call from Walt Disney World informing her the studio had been accepted to perform at Walt Disney World in May 2011.

Deal, a 25-year dance veteran, opened her dance studio four years ago, following her dream of showing local children the world.

At age 15, Deal was a member of a dance team asked to be a part of Team USA at the World Championship for the Performing Arts. Coming home with two world championship medals, she knew this was what she wanted to do for the rest of her life. Since opening the dance studio, she has taken her team to Washington, D.C., for the last two years to march in the St. Patrick’s Day parade. Her dance team has won more than 150 medals, ranging from high silver to platinum. It also won more than 30 top scores at the national and regional level, as well as regional and national grand champion top model for the East Coast two years in a row.

Last year, Deal was awarded with four top teacher awards at the regional and national level for choreographing grand champion routines and most recently was the pageantry coach for two of the Brunswick County sweetheart queens.

She is now excited to add performing at Walt Disney World to the studio’s resume.

“When announcing it to the children, I wanted to make sure they knew it was all of their hard work and dedication to dance that got them this amazing opportunity,” she said. “I have such an amazing group of children at Dance 4 Life, Inc., I couldn’t have asked for a better group of children and parents.

“I am so blessed and honored to have them under my wing and able to make their dreams come true. Little do they know, every day they walk into Dance 4 Life Inc., they are making my dreams come true as well.”

This studio is accepting donations and sponsorships for the trip.
