Disappointed in election coverage

-A A +A
By Staff Brunswick Beacon

To the editor: I was shocked at the lack of coverage of the election of president-elect Barack Obama in your newspaper and most particularly on the front page. Newspapers all over this country and indeed the world heralded this historic event on their front pages with bold words and pictures.

There was not one picture of president- elect Obama I could find in your newspaper in the edition immediately after the election.

The most basic duty of a newspaper is to inform its readers so that in a democratic society the reader can better make decisions. This is the reason the free press has constitutional significance.

The Brunswick Beacon, for whatever its reasons and they are suspect, has failed the citizens of Brunswick County, its readership, and all people who pick up a newspaper and read it to be informed. Shame on you.
