On Oct. 23, the Dosher Memorial Hospital volunteers presented a donation of $46,162.66 to Dosher Hospital President and CEO Edgar Haywood III at the hospital.
The donation was made possible through the fundraising efforts of Dosher volunteers at the hospital’s gift shop and the Dosher Hospital volunteer flea market at 129 E. Moore St. in Southport.
The check represented hospital donations made by Dosher volunteers during the last five months, from May through September.
Among items donated were a therapeutic tub and lift chair for the nursing center, a Game Ready ice therapy accelerated recovery system for physical therapy, a computer and software for the business office and a courtesy golf cart to transport patients and visitors to and from the parking area of the hospital.
In addition, a storage system unit was purchased for the emergency department, as well as toys for children cared for in the hospital’s emergency and surgical departments.
“Dosher is blessed to have one of the best volunteer organizations any hospital could ask for,” Haywood said. “Time and again over the years, the Dosher Memorial Hospital volunteers have given to our hospital and its various departments and services, greatly enhancing the level of care we are able to provide to our patients. The generosity and dedication of our more than 200 Dosher volunteers has never ceased to amaze us.”
