Drive-by suspects arrested

Two men have been arrested and charged with the murder of a 28-year-old Calabash man.

Matthew Lee Baber, 25, of 7143 Channel I, Sunset Beach, and Norman Elliot Simmons, 23, of 6501 Kingtown Road, Ash, have been charged with the murder of James Allen Murdock.

Police found Murdock in a car on Pineclair Drive near Calabash just before 10 p.m. May 8—dead from an apparent drive-by shooting.

Although investigators believed it was a drive-by shooting, sheriff’s office Lt. Sam Davis said it was not a random shooting—Murdock was the apparent target.
