Even though a new director has been hired to lead the Brunswick County Department of Social Services, the agency is still encountering roadblocks.
Recently, the DSS board asked to meet with county commissioners to discuss the county-terminated contract with attorney Gary Shipman.
Now three of the five DSS board members—chairman and county commissioner Charles Warren, board member and NAACP president Bernest Hewett and board member Tina Jackson—refuse to go to the very meeting they asked for, if they can’t bring Shipman along with them.
