Appalachian names grads, dean’s list
Appalachian State University has released its graduation list for the spring 2012 semester.
A total of 343 graduate students and 1,774 undergraduate students received degrees during ceremonies in May, including 13 from Brunswick County.
Brunswick County students earning degrees included: Emily Danielle Davis Lary of Calabash, bachelor of science in psychology; Lane Dawson Flexner of Oak Island, bachelor of science in communication studies; Hannah Rebekah Bollinger of Shallotte, bachelor of science in Spanish, education (summa cum laude); Samuel Ethan Cox of Shallotte, bachelor of science in communication studies; Steven Ryan Nagy of Shallotte, bachelor of science in communication, journalism; Michael Logan Barbee of Southport, bachelor of science in sustainable development; Elizabeth Ann Campanello of Southport, bachelor of arts in anthropology; Kathryn Elyse Manis of Southport, bachelor of arts in English (magna cum laude); Kelly Ann Rau of Southport, bachelor of science in child development birth-kindergarten (cum laude); Leslie Dianne Stackhouse of Southport, bachelor of science in communication disorders; Kelsey Moss Dorset of Supply, bachelor of science in graphic arts and imaging tech (summa cum laude); Gregory Keith Morgan of Supply, bachelor of science in biology, pre-professional (magna cum laude); Jeremy Brian Pope of Whiteville, bachelor of science in chemistry.
Appalachian State University has released its dean’s and chancellor’s lists for the spring 2012 semester.
Named to the dean’s list were: Emily Danielle Davis Lary of Calabash, human services, senior; Davi Dos Santos Goncalves of Oak Island, accounting, junior; Benjamin Reid Milazzo of Shallotte, English, senior; Steven Ryan Nagy of Shallotte, communication, journalism, senior; Michael Logan Barbee of Southport, agroecology and sustainable agriculture, senior; Stephanie Elaine Stone of Southport, dance studies, junior; Lori Ann Bowman of Winnabow, interior design, junior.
To be included on the dean’s list, undergraduates must either be enrolled in 12-14 hours of academic credit and attain a minimum 3.45 grade point average or be enrolled in 15 hours or more of academic credit and attain a minimum 3.25 grade point average.
Named to the chancellor’s list were: Kathryn Elyse Manis of Southport, English, senior; Kelsey Moss Dorset of Supply, graphic arts and imaging tech, senior; Gregory Keith Morgan of Supply, biology, pre-professional, senior.
The chancellor’s list recognizes full-time undergraduates who attain a 3.85 grade point average or higher. Chancellor’s list students also earn dean’s list distinction.
O’Kane named to dean’s list
Ciara O’Kane of Calabash has been named to the dean’s list at Fairfield University for the spring 2012 semester.
Fairfield University, a comprehensive Jesuit university in Fairfield, Conn., challenges its students to lead inspired lives of leadership and service. To be selected for the dean’s list, students must attain a grade point average of at least 3.5 of a possible 4.0.
King graduates from N.C. Central law school
Rachel Lacy King, daughter of Timothy and JeanLynn King of Sunset Beach (formerly of Ash), has graduated magna cum laude from North Carolina Central School of Law with a juris doctor degree.
King previously graduated suma cum laude from East Carolina University with a bachelor’s of science degree in both English and Hispanic studies, making the deans’ list and chancellor’s list all four years at ECU.
