Eight county wrestlers have qualified for the North Carolina High School Athletic Association state wrestling championships this weekend in Winston-Salem.
Wrestlers competed in state-qualifying regionals Friday and Saturday. Wrestlers had to reach the semifinals of their weight classes to qualify for state.
Two wrestlers qualified from West Brunswick: Deven Ruane and Dee Kent.
Ruane finished third at 152 pounds. He beat Stephen Henkel of Currituck 7-1.
Kent finished third at 285 pounds. He beat Nick Summrell of host South Central 5-4.
