Election was no accident

To the editor:
In 2009, when Len Steiner last ran for re-election to the Sunset Beach Town Council, he finished dead last. Only 10.7 percent of the voters wanted him back. The other incumbent seeking re-election in 2009, Lou DeVita, kept his seat by a mere 53 votes. That, in electoral terms, was a message.
Sadly, neither Mr. Steiner nor a majority of the council “got it.” Clueless Lou DeVita actually called his pitiful margin “a mandate.”
