Elks play charity tourney

The Shallotte Elks Lodge No. 2854 played its fifth annual captain’s choice golf tournament Oct. 7 at Brierwood Golf Course. The winning team with a score of 54 was Don Tew, Mona Boob, Danny Smith and Kendall Hardee. In second were Bob Doyle, Rick Simard, Mike Leland and Randy Milazzo.
In the second flight, winning at 59 were Jim Foley, Jim Sigman, Jim Nicely and Sam Weiss. In second, also at 59, were Linda Branning, Scott Branning, Mike Walters and Eddie Oliver.
In the ladies’ flight, first at 61 were Nancy Kumlin, Tina Teipel, Sandy Bloom and Al Bloom. In second at 68 were Paul Salerno, Mickey Salerno, Mary Jane Scrivani and Jaime Scrivani.
In the mixed flight, first at 67 were Brent Edsoren, Shirley Edsoren, Bob Maxwell and Sandy Maxwell. Second at 81 were Rich Graves, Cindy Graves, Patti Doyle and Wayne Averill.
A team of wounded warriors played in the tournament. Money raised from this tournament goes to such organizations as the Veterans Homes, Buses for the Veterans, Wounded Warriors, scholarships, Toy Run and Special Olympics.
